Arne Slot admitted that it's natural for doubts to be asked about his future after a further convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.
Liverpool endured their 9th loss in twelve matches, representing the team's worst streak after being demoted in 1953-54.
They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a difficult evening at their home ground.
“I feel secure, I'm fine, I've received a lot of support from the top,” Slot remarked.
“It would be nice to reverse this trend and get a victory of course but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that questions are asked.”
He added, “I accept my situation. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”
Upon being questioned to elaborate on his conversations with the team officials, Slot said:
“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”
He mentioned, “Through standard discussions I feel the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them after this defeat so far so let’s see.”
The manager expressed regret over known shortcomings from his team in their European defeat, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.
Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his view of the current crisis.
“I don’t have the solutions. Honestly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder said.
“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to think about it. I’m past getting mad internally. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the words.”
He added, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I've watched Liverpool for years.”
“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a period of this nature with outcomes like these.”
Jones concluded, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to compete.”
“Our aim is to bring this squad return to where it needs to be, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”
“But right now, things are bad and it must improve.”
