Educator Slain and 25 Girls Abducted in Firefight at Nigerian School

Gun-wielding individuals have fatally shot an educator and abducted at least 25 students in an assault against a educational institution for young women in north-western Nigeria, authorities have confirmed.

The criminal group stormed the Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School in Maga, Kebbi State at roughly 4 in the morning local time on the beginning of the work week, authorities reported.

The attackers "engaged police personnel on duty in a shootout" before breaching the school's outer barrier and seizing the students from their hostel, authorities disclosed.
