A team of six suspects equipped with high-powered firearms detonated charges to breach the security of a gold refining laboratory located in the city of Lyon, resulting in minor injuries to five staff members during what appears to be the latest high-profile daytime heist to hit France.
The audacious robbery occurred on Thursday afternoon, with law enforcement authorities quickly arresting the individuals believed responsible and securing the stolen items assessed at around €12 million (10.5 million pounds), according to officials.
Five employees of Laboratoires Pourquery sustained minor injuries as a result of the detonation, and three employees were taken to a medical facility for examination, the regional prefecture announced. Twenty-eight workers were at the location when the thieves struck.
