The German coach, who left Liverpool in 2024, indicated that rejoining the club is an option. Klopp, after a transformative near-decade reign featuring a European Cup triumph and ending the club's long wait in 30 years, has since taken on positions overseeing worldwide football for Red Bull and as an advisor with the German Football League.
Liverpool won the league title under Arne Slot, though countless followers who adore the manager would be thrilled by the notion of his potential comeback. Speaking candidly, he explained to his interviewer: “I stated I will never coach another team on English soil. Therefore should it be the Reds...absolutely. Theoretically it’s possible.”
“Being 58, which suggests I could make the decision down the line, I don’t know. Do I have to make the decision today? If so, I wouldn't return. Fortunately, it's not necessary. I can just see what the future brings.”
When asked about which situations would need to occur to bring him back to the dugout, Klopp admitted he was not instantly drawn toward coming back. “It's unclear to me, I love what I do right now,” he stated. “I don't crave being a coach; I don’t miss standing during downpours through long matches; I'm glad to skip press conferences repeatedly each week or having 10-12 interviews a week.
“No nostalgia for the changing area in that context, yet sharing a meal with the team having a nice chat, that’s nice. Success was frequent so there was often great spirits at the club. I still have Virgil [Van Dijk’s] laugh in my ear to illustrate.”
Klopp was full of praise regarding Arne Slot, crediting him for the adjustments that took the title last term. The team has suffered four in a row in every contest after a summer spending spree, though he denied the idea of it representing a slump.
“[Liverpool have] an incredible striker in Flo[rian] Wirtz, you will all eat your words if you use the wrong words. An outstanding player. Ekitike, incredible player. It’s a really good well-judged squad. Fans shouldn't fret over the club, things will improve.”
The manager expressed deep feeling regarding the passing of Diogo Jota, whom he brought in during his tenure, and its impact on Liverpool. Jota was killed in a vehicle collision with his brother in July.
“Can you substitute somebody like Diogo? This isn't just regarding his on-field talent, it's his character. I can’t imagine the dressing room absent his presence. I find it difficult to discuss regarding this. It was an incredible shock for all the boys too. No one within the club will ever use it as an excuse but it is the situation. Being in that space which he filled completely. Coping with it emotionally is not easy. Impossible.”
