Three Athletes Named as Finalists for Young Athlete of the Year Honour

Lionesses forward Michelle Agyemang, darts sensation Luke Littler and cricket star Davina Perrin have been shortlisted for the 2025 Young Sports Personality of the Year award.

The three finalists have been recognised for their remarkable achievements over the last year.

Agyemang played a key role in helping the Lionesses secure Euro 2025, Littler won the world title for the very first time, and Perrin rose to fame with a record-breaking innings.

Littler won the award in 2024 after his remarkable rise.

The three contenders were announced live on a widely-listened-to radio show.

This year's winner will be announced during a live broadcast on the Sports Personality of the Year show on the 18th of December.

The ceremony will be televised from 19:00 GMT.

Agyemang's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Football

A mere three months after her first cap for her country, Agyemang played a crucial and game-changing role in England's run to Euro 2025 glory.

She was introduced as a substitute to score key tying goals in both the knockout stage games.

These match-saving moments led to her being named Young Player of the Tournament.

Later in the year, she was awarded the Golden Girl trophy for the finest emerging star on the continent.

She was also shortlisted for the Kopa Trophy for the world's best under-21 female player.

Agyemang, who has been playing for Brighton on loan from Arsenal, sustained a serious knee injury in October.

"Being on the shortlist for this honour is an honour," said Agyemang. "Thank you to God and I'm grateful for the support I've received from my inner circle and supporters."

Luke Littler

Age: 18 Sport: Darts

The year started for Littler in spectacular fashion as - while still 17 - he became the most youthful world title winner in history.

He secured a commanding win over Michael van Gerwen in the final.

His subsequent victory at the World Matchplay made him only the fifth player to complete the prestigious triple crown of major titles.

And he wasn't finished there - his victory at November's Grand Slam of Darts meant he reached world number one for the first time.

At 18, he is the youngest man to do so, shattering the previous record.

"To receive a nomination for Young Sports Personality of the Year is a big honour," stated Littler. "My victory in 2024 was a special memory for me and I've had another incredible 12 months. I want to continue raising the profile of darts."

Perrin's Profile

Age: 19 Sport: Cricket

Perrin is one of English cricket's top prospects and rose to fame with an remarkable and historic innings in August.

Her magnificent 42-ball century in The Hundred is the quickest ever by an English female in T20s.

It also stands as the shared third-fastest women's T20 century in a premier tournament.

Perrin ended up as runner-up in the run-scoring charts and was named the young player of the year by the PCA.

"I'm truly honoured to be shortlisted for the Young Sports Personality of the Year award," expressed Perrin. "It's a very special feeling. I hope it encourages more young women to get into cricket."
