Toronto Blue Jays Earn Fall Classic Meeting Versus Los Angeles Dodgers

George Springer celebrating

Springer previously helped the Houston Astros winning the championship in 2017.

Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their first World Series since 1993 by defeating the Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.

Down three runs to one, the star outfielder hit a three-run blast in the seventh frame, leading the sole Canadian team in the majors to a 4-3 victory in the seven-game series. Next up are the Los Angeles Dodgers, holders of the reigning title, in the upcoming World Series.

"It's incredible for everyone here, the city, Canada," commented Springer, a key player of the Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "What an incredible feeling."

The veteran has now slugged twenty-three playoff homers, placing him third on the list behind Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).

"There's probably not another player anywhere that I'd prefer in that moment except for George Springer with his playoff prowess," noted manager John Schneider.

Seattle, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the only MLB franchise yet to make an appearance in a championship series.

Wilson commented "certainly that it hurts" following his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but applauded their work this season.

"They're an exceptional squad. Unfortunately that we finished on the wrong side of the series," he added.

Toronto's team secured the World Series on each of their earlier trips in 1992 and '93, and will host the Dodgers in game one on the upcoming Friday.
