Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer

Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film debuted, launching Pixar as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved characters like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.

In 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will resolve the conclusion of Toy Story 4.

The Latest Addition: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Frightens the Toys

In the teaser shows Bonnie — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a brand new toy, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She gets her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.

Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

An element the trailer doesn't touch on is what Woody is returned with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.

Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with Woody. And where is the stuntman toy (the star)?

Continuity from the Previous Film

At the very least, some elements are continuing from the prior film. The final act Woody did before setting off for his fresh path was hand over his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip shows the insignia pinned to her outfit.

It is hoped she is remains the driving force among the group.
